Responsibilities

Summary

The position provides oversight of all substance abuse disorder services and provide clinical supervision to substance use disorder program staff. Maintains good customer relations, develops new business opportunities, monitors adherence to budgets, and ensure contract compliance. Learns, uses and models principles of the "What Works" system through evidence-based practices in all interactions with clients and other staff members.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Facilitates delivery of cognitive behavioral curriculum in a group setting focusing on the areas of motivation for change, social adjustment, personal management, social skills development, cognitive restructuring, and development of problem-solving skills.
  • Participates in orientation of participant regarding all behavioral treatment programs including, but not limited to, T4C, Anger Management and Life Skills.
    The ability to facilitate and/or co-facilitate, group counseling from a structured manual.
  • Assists in the coordination of participant program schedules to ensure the criminogenic needs of the participants are met.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in counseling, psychology, nursing, rehabilitation, special education, health education, or a related human services field and one (1) year of professional experience in chemical addiction counseling and/or mental health counseling; OR
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in counseling, psychology, nursing, rehabilitation, special education, health education, or a related human services field and six (6) months of professional experience in chemical addiction counseling and/or mental health counseling; or CONTRACT #C2924 AMENDMENT #6 Page 5 of 11 3) A Ph.D. from an accredited college or university with a major in counseling, psychology, nursing, rehabilitation, special education, health education, or a related human services field and six (6) months of professional experience in chemical addiction counseling and/or mental health counseling; or 4) A Master's Level Certified Addictions Professional (MCAP), Certified Addiction Professional (CAP), Certified Criminal Justice Addiction Professional (CCJAP), Certified Associate Addiction Professional (CAAP), Certified Criminal Justice Associate Addiction Professional (CCJAAP), or Certified Addictions Counselor.
  • Relevant teaching or counseling experience in a correctional setting preferred.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of the Principles of Effective Intervention that empirical evidence has proven to successfully reduce recidivism.
  • Must possess the ability to work with a team of professionals and have the ability to implement team strategy approaches to work assignments.
  • Must be flexible, cooperative and empathetic to needs of staff and participants.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
