About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative IoT Solution Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing IoT solutions and platforms that enable smart connected products and services. As an IoT Solution Developer, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate various IoT devices and systems, ensuring seamless communication and data exchange across the network.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and architect IoT connectivity solutions, including gateways, edge devices, and supporting hardware and software components.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand and define project requirements and objectives.
  • Collaborate with data scientists to create integrated solutions that meet the needs of our customers.
  • Design and develop scalable, reliable, and secure tools or applications that support device management, data collection, processing, and analysis.
  • Implement field communication protocols (e.g. Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, OPC UA) to gather data from control systems
  • Implement communication protocols such as MQTT, Kafka, CoAP, HTTP, and WebSockets to facilitate device-to-cloud and cloud-to-device interactions.
  • Support device configuration, device provisioning, and validation of IoT solutions at customer sites.
  • Work with cloud services (Azure) to deploy and manage IoT applications and services.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices for security, data privacy, and interoperability.
  • Conduct testing, debugging, and performance optimization of IoT applications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to the IoT applications, including connectivity, data flow, and device management.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in the IoT space and evaluate their applicability to our platform.
  • Document the development process, architecture, and standard operating procedures.
  • Provide technical support and training to internal teams and external partners.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in IoT system/platform development and deployment, or a similar role.
  • Experience in configuration and deployment of industrial controls, gateways and edge devices and implementation of field communication protocols.
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Java, Python, or Node.js (Python preferred)
  • Familiarity with IoT protocols and standards (e.g., MQTT, Kafka, CoAP, Zigbee, Z-Wave, BLE).
  • Familiarity with wireless communication technologies (e.g., 4G, Wi-Fi)
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms and services, particularly those related to IoT (Azure IoT Hub preferred).
  • Knowledge of data storage solutions, both SQL and NoSQL, and data processing technologies.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles and experience implementing security measures for IoT systems.
  • Willing to travel to customer sites up to 25%.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Self-motivated with a passion for IoT technology and its potential applications.
  • Ability to adapt to evolving project requirements and priorities.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with edge computing and fog computing paradigms.
  • Knowledge of machine learning and artificial intelligence as they apply to IoT.
  • Experience with software development and version control (e.g. GitHub)
  • Familiarity with integrating and leveraging APIs and SDKs for the development of applications
  • Experience with DevOps practices and tools for continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD).
