Job Description

Information Technology Services (ITS) is seeking a Project Manager - Expert to join its Campus Relations and Communications (CRC) team. The role serves as a lead, mentor, and subject matter expert to facilitate direction, requirements, and priorities for collections of related projects and/or project portfolios (assessing project needs against financial, human resource, strategic goal, and other criteria and constraints to optimize the portfolio). The Project Manager- Expert will build, manage, and maintain a leadership project portfolio space for projects, tasks, and delivery of products in accordance with budget and implementation cycles.

  • Prepare a project plan addressing scope, cost, schedule, quality, human resources, risks, communications, change management, and procurement. Build and maintain a collaborative project workspace. Prepare and submit project status updates for review and approval. In conjunction with functional managers, select appropriate human resources, set resource availability percentages, set resource scheduling calendars, and coordinate task assignments. Work with clients through the procurement processes to coordinate security reviews/audits, as needed.
  • Prepare and submit project charters to the functional director/executive sponsor and business leadership for review, approval, and priority assignment. Coordinate project charters with affected functional directors/managers. Coordinate capital project funding estimates with the fiscal manager.
  • Execute, monitor, and control projects. Set a project baseline. As determined by the executive sponsor and business leadership, prepare and submit major changes to the budget, time to completion, and scope for review. Set a new baseline upon approval. Monitor project schedule and keep it up to date. Review and endorse project team lead/members' project status updates; coordinate and verify timely project reporting with leadership resources as defined in communication plans. Monitor and mitigate risks throughout execution. Identify and manage issues throughout the project. Monitor quality of deliverables and advise functional managers of defects.
  • Ensure all deliverables have been realized in accordance with customer requirements and quality standards. Prepare and submit project closure documentation for review and approval. Enter lessons learned into the collaborative project workspace for later search and retrieval. Request Project Management Office (PMO) audit of a completed project, as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in Project Management, Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and sustain positive relationships with ITS colleagues, faculty, staff, and students.
  • Ability to lead effective project meetings, workshops, and presentations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
  • Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)
  • Certified ScrumMaster (CSM)
Anticipated Hiring Range

Pay commensurate with education and experience.
Hiring Range: $58,573 - $83,304 Annual
Grade: GGS-11
