As a Joint Training Specialist, candidate will provide services in support of USTRANSCOM for exercises sponsored by USTRANSCOM, the Joint Staff and other Combatant Commands (CCMDs) that are in planning, preparation and execution phases.

  • Must be knowledgeable of the HS and the various CCMDs and their respective exercise planning methods, policies, guidance and staffs.
  • Attend conferences and meetings, review and validate force flow data to provide critical information/data and offer assistance and guidance to lead CCMD Planners.
  • Coordinate and develop a monthly Joint Exercise Program (JEP) Synchronization update brief.
  • Assist in identification and coordination of USTRANSCOM support requirements for their exercises to include join and mobility enabling capabilities, JS and CCMD exercise scenarios, M&S parameters, objectives, timing, participants, and scope.
  • Assist in the establishment and manning of CCMD Exercise Response Cell (ExRC) supporting Command Post Exercises (CPSs) through all execution phases.
  • Staff the ExRC to provide the CCMD exercise execution coverage.
  • Manage, organize and maintain the ExRC information management, knowledge management, (IM/KM) systems incorporating shared information designed for each exercise.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible for a U.S. passport.
  • Must possess or be eligible for a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI).
  • Three years of Joint experience or two years of Joint Training and Exercise experience at the Combatant Command level.
  • Eight years of experience as a commissioned officer, non-commissioned officer or DoD civilian equivalent including 5 years in planning and conducting military training.
  • Experience in planning and executing joint training and exercises and the Joint Training System (JTS), joint training procedures and manuals.
  • Experience and proficiency with development, design and assessment of exercise training objectives.
  • Experience and proficiency in one or more of the following:
    • Joint Training Information Management System (JTIMS)
    • Defense Readiness Reporting System
    • Joint Lessons Learned Information System
    • Operational Assessments
    • JMETs
    • Exercise Scenario design
    • Models and Simulations
    • Demonstrated ability to develop, assess, adjust and execute plans
  • Experience in Joint Exercise Life Cycle (JELC), Universal Joint Task List (UJTL) and Master Scenario Event List (MSEL) processes desired.
  • Ability to organize and complete assignments according to established standards regarding clarity, conciseness, style and terminology.
  • Skilled in all aspects of communications for briefings, presentations and classroom instructions.
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office presentation, word processing, spreadsheet and collaboration applications.
  • Must be able to travel unassisted to CONUS and oversees locations to perform job duties.
  • Bachelor's degree required (service experience may substitute).
  • Graduate of an intermediate Service School desired.
