This opportunity is in the Claims Department.

Our Claims department oversees both high-exposure workers' compensation and liability claims. As an unbundled carrier, we work actively with third-party administrators (TPAs) and self-administered accounts to assist in guiding claims to a successful resolution. As an excess carrier, the catastrophic claims we handle keep our group challenged, but the uniqueness provides plenty of growth opportunities.

Role Description:

In the role of Director Reinsurance Claims you will be responsible for handling assigned claims from initial assignment to closure as well as provide assistance in various administrative functions associated with the Treaty Reinsurance LOB.

Your day-to-day duties as Director Reinsurance Claims will include:

  • Handling of Treaty Reinsurance Workers' Compensation, Specialty Casualty XOL, and quota share claims including but not limited to Medical Malpractice and other casualty lines including CLASH
  • Completing claim audits to assess claim management capabilities of ceding companies and advising Underwriting Department of results whether selected by the Director or requested by Underwriting and completion of reports per department procedures
  • Manage Treaty Reinsurance claims to include determining coverage, exposure evaluation, setting timely and accurate case reserves, and making claim payments within established authority limits
  • Advising Brokers and Reinsureds as to the desired claim handling. Communicating with Brokers and Reinsureds to obtain necessary claim details
  • Processing of cash calls and vendor check requests in accordance with department procedures and authority level
  • Communicating with Underwriters regarding problem accounts, large losses, and specific Reinsured problems

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree from accredited college or university is required

Required Qualifications:

  • At least one of the following:
    • Minimum of 5-7 years' experience in reinsurance claim handling
    • If no reinsurance experience, then equivalent years' experience in each of a number of casualty lines
  • Must be proficient with Excel, Word, and Outlook

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience adjusting or overseeing claims in multiple jurisdictions a plus

Compensation for the successful candidate will consider the candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, and geographic location.
