Summary

This position is responsible for creating and implementing programs and projects firm-wide, to further the long-term professional development of the firm's attorneys. The Manager will work with the firm's leadership to help attorneys practice law effectively, develop professionally, earn their CLE credits efficiently, build relationships between attorneys, and foster a strong firm community.

Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 3-5 years of experience within the area of professional development and training or an equivalent area.
  • Strong technology skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Prior supervisory experience required.

Preferred Education & Experience

  • D. strongly preferred.
  • Law firm experience preferred.
  • Experience with viDesktop and Micron CE Manager preferred.

  • Attorney Training and Programming (50%)
    • Implement firm-wide strategic direction for attorney education and development consistent with the firm's objectives.
    • Develop and administer training programs, live and virtual, that meet professional development goals, including assistance in developing program materials and a variety of delivery methods, and assist in tracking the quality and quantity of attorney development opportunities.
    • Support orientation and integration programming for attorneys.
    • Design, introduce and support new initiatives for attorney development.
    • Work with the CLE team on administration of programs.
  • Attorney Professional Development (40%)
    • Work with Chief Attorney Recruiting & Development Officer, Practice Division Leaders, Practice Development Partners and other firm leadership to monitor Associate progress in meeting division core competencies and training goals, including assisting and supporting external coaching arrangements to meet attorneys' needs.
    • Support Associate Development & Mentoring Committee, develop activities and initiatives for Associate development, act as primary support of the Associate Mentoring Program.
    • Coordinate programming and events to support the firm's Pro Bono Program, Well-Being and diversity and inclusion initiatives.
    • Assist in the non-partner timekeeper evaluation process as directed.
  • General and Administrative (10%)
    • Manage budget, manage general ledger expenses, and ensure expenses stay within budget.
    • Participate in managing and directing workload of the Professional Development staff.
    • Participate in professional association activities for professional development.
    • Assist with attorney recruiting, well-being and diversity efforts.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the responsibilities of the position, these work environment characteristics are representative of the environment the person in this position will encounter. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in a professional, fast paced office environment that may require additional hours to complete work.
