Summary
University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis is seeking an assistant coach for men's soccer to begin immediately. The ideal candidate will have a well-rounded knowledge of soccer skills and should be able to instruct and evaluate student-athletes and teamwork at the collegiate varsity and junior varsity levels. The position is primarily focusedoninstructing student athletes in how to perform their sport and recruiting players. By working closely with the head coach, assistant coaches focus on player and team sport-specific skills and in-game coaching. Secondary duties include supporting the head coach in aspects of recruiting, team travel planning, practice planning, team management and other athletic department duties. This salaried, year-round position is benefits eligible and requires a significant time commitment during the sport seasonwith a more flexible commitment outside the season.
The participate in National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) sports as a member of the . Teams include men's and women's basketball, golf, soccer, cross-country, track and field, volleyball, eSports, co-ed competitive cheer, men's baseball and rugby, and women's softball and lacrosse.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- Bachelor's degreestrongly preferred. In lieu of a bachelor's degree consideration may be given to candidates with some college experience and substantial work experience coaching.
- Playing experience at acollegiatelevelstronglypreferred
- All-around knowledge of the game, including strategies and skills, as well as a solid comprehension of film analysis, scouting, and recruiting
- Prior coaching experience strongly desired, particularly at the collegiate level. In lieu of collegiate coaching experience, high school or club coaching experience or demonstrated knowledge and ability to teach the sport is required
- Must be eager to recruit; prior recruiting experience preferred
- Professional andleadership acumen:ability to learnNAIAand conferencerules and regulations
- Excellent communication with players, recruits, and parents; understandingthedemanding academic climate atUHSP; ability to assess student behavior/athletic ability;appropriate behavior befitting an empathetic authority figure in a university setting
- Driver's license and transportation for off-campus practice facilities
- Ability to demonstrate necessary skills for the sport
- Physical skills required to teach drills and demonstrate plays
- Ability to transport or move necessary equipment for use at practices and games
