Job Summary
Handle casualty, property, and large transportation claims and lawsuits; analyze initial exposure, direct activity, and expense within approval limits, and estimate financial value; draft claim handling procedures.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities
- Support litigation of insured claims including preparation of discovery responses; monitor Third Party Administrator (TPA) and outside counsel.
- Oversee self-insured auto physical damage program, burglary/robbery, and minimal transportation claims and preparation of state workers' compensation filings.
- Monitor TPA and reconcile TPA funding; allocate insurance claim expense between Corporate and locations.
- Assist with risk assessments of new exposures, budget preparation, claim analysis and loss forecasting, renewal applications, and insurance program structure.
Nature and Scope
- Demonstrates skill in data analysis techniques by resolving missing/incomplete information, inconsistencies/anomalies in more complex research/data.
- Nature of work requires increasing independence; receives guidance only on unusual complex problems or issues. Work review typically involves periodic review of output by supervisor and/or direct "customers" of the process personnel.
Work Environment
- Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about.
- Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
- Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age or older
- Must pass pre-employment assessment(s) if applicable
Education and Experience
- Typically requires BS/BA in related discipline. Generally 2-5 years of experience in related field; certification is required in some areas OR MS/MA and generally 2-4 years of experience in related field. Certification is required in some areas.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Business.
- Management of multi-line claims and lawsuits.
- Progressive responsibilities in multi-line claim adjusting and management with a TPA, insurance carrier, or corporate entity.
