Job Description

The Salvation Army Midland Division Ferguson Community Empowerment Center is looking for a Program Manager, Spark Academy. This individual would be responsible for inspiring educating, and empowering 3rd - 5th grader students through an engaging, holistic and inclusive learning environment.

This is a full-time, 40 hours per week, $43, 260.00 per year.

Essential Functions

  • Program Management:
  • Implement program schedule and activities that encompass educational, recreational, relational, and spiritual development for young participants using the 40 developmental assets.
  • Connect with and develop auxiliary staff and volunteers who can effectively teach and mentor Spark Academy participants.
  • Recruit and maintain qualified volunteers for the Ferguson and Spark Academy programs.
  • Seek out community leaders who can contribute to youth programs.
  • Provide guidance, support, supervision, and basic training to staff and volunteers
  • Curriculum Development:
  • Prepare and monitor a variety of educational activities, events, and trips that align with the mission and goals of the Spark Academy.
  • Promote social-emotional learning and character development by nurturing students' self-esteem, resilience, empathy, and leadership skills.
  • Record Keeping and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate statistical information and data records related to program activities and participants.
  • Prepare monthly reports for submission to the Ferguson Community Empowerment Center Director.
  • Coordinate with the Intake Specialist to ensure real-time data recording.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
  • Collaborate with the Pathways of Hope Case Manager and Intake Specialist to maintain active enrollment in the program.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings, maintaining open communication channels with colleagues and supervisor.
  • Youth Safety and Compliance:
  • Maintain confidentiality, adhere to proper client boundaries, and comply with Salvation Army Safe From Harm guidelines.
  • Ensure the implementation and adherence to Safe From Harm guidelines in the local setting.
  • Plan and organize transportation for youth attending Camp Mihaska during the summer months.
  • Parental Coordination:
  • Establish and maintain open and effective communication channels with parents/guardians to provide regular updates on student progress, discuss areas for improvement, and collaborate on strategies for student success.
  • Conduct engagement opportunities and organize events to encourage parental involvement in the learning process.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in youth development studies and/or minimum of three years' experience in the youth development field. Possession of a valid driver's license and adherence to guidelines provided by the state of residence and the automobile insurance provider regarding passenger vans/buses.
