The Family Court of St. Louis County is hiring for a Detention Individual Family Therapist for its Family and Clinical Services Department.

This is a non-merit position. Recruitment for this position will be handled by the Family Court of St. Louis County.

Pay Range 113 $22.70 - $41.15 ($47,216- $85,592)
This position within the Family Court/Juvenile Office is eligible for 10% addition to pay.

Examples of Duties

An employee in this position is responsible for performing therapeutic and consultative work of considerable difficulty requiring significant independent judgment and initiative. This position is responsible for providing mental health services to youth while placed in Detention. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Director of Family & Clinical Services. Work is reviewed for conformance with established policies and procedures, and specific objectives through periodic supervisory conferences, observations, and reports submitted. The schedule will be determined in collaboration with the Family & Clinical Services Director and will likely include two evenings a week or one evening and one weekend day. There will also be an on-call rotation with other Family & Clinical Services staff (approximately one week per quarter).

Primary responsibility is to manage a caseload and provide consultation, assessment, and therapy to youth placed in Detention. Conducts mental health and substance abuse screening/assessment and treatment of juveniles in detention and the community. Provides crisis intervention and risk assessment of detained youth.
Plans and facilitates group counseling sessions for the population of detained youth. Provides services via telehealth when necessary and appropriate.
Develops and implements curriculum for the group counseling program.
Consult with Family Court staff as requested and is available for informal consultation as needed regarding treatment plan progress, group counseling progress, and termination of treatment.
Attends staffing as requested by Deputy Juvenile Officers and other Family Court staff.
Acts to engage youth and families in services.
Provides written and oral reports of assessment and treatment progress.
Collaborates with Family Therapists, Clinical Psychologists, as a member of the treatment team.
Also collaborates with other St. Louis County mental health professionals.
Maintains appropriate documentation and records.
Testifies at court hearings as needed.
Participates in departmental staff meetings.
Provides training to court staff and volunteers as well as other community partners in the areas of individual/family therapy and related mental health topics.
Attends and completes the mandatory training required in order to maintain licensure.
Participates in various Court programs and committees as requested and/or assigned.
Supervises graduate-level practicum students/volunteers/interns as assigned and available.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited (CACREP, CSWE, or COAMFTE, as appropriate to the program) college or university with a Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related social/behavioral science is required. Licensed or license-eligible in Missouri as an LCSW, LPC, or LMFT is preferred. If full licensure has not been obtained, the ability to be provisionally licensed is required. Two years of therapy experience is required.
Licensure supervision is available for a PLPC, but unfortunately, there is no current ability to provide licensure supervision for an LMSW.

Additional Information

All applicants conditionally offered a permanent part-time, full-time, term or on-call position will be required to submit to a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Screening will be performed by a reputable clinical laboratory. The cost of screening will be paid by the County. Applicants will also be required to submit to an extensive background and criminal record check.
