Role Description:

In the role of Director, Portfolio Delivery you will be part of a dynamic and experienced team to lead Safety Nationals Portfolio Delivery team through an exciting phase of growth and innovation.. You will work closely with collaboratively with key stakeholders, including the Operations Committee (OC), Management Operations Committee (MOC), Information Technology (IT), Executive/Senior management and various business teams.

Your day-to-day responsibilities as a Director, Portfolio Delivery will include the Delivery Management function within our Lean Portfolio Management organization utilizing the Scaled Agile Framework for enterprises (SAFe). You will drive the overly communicative transparent and predictable delivery of high-quality solutions from our portfolio plan, collaborating with business, IT and Product Management, and ensuring high-quality, consistent communication among all stakeholders. You may also be assigned various projects like, establishing standards and best practices related to the Delivery Management discipline at Safety National. Reporting on metrics and Key Performance indicators for Delivery Management in a way that guides iterative improvement.

This position reports directly to the AVP - Portfolio and Product Management, which contains both the Product Management and Lean Portfolio Management units. You will collaborate with the AVP - Portfolio and Product Management in establishing the vision and strategy of the Portfolio Delivery function. Finally, you are responsible for leading a high-performing Portfolio Delivery management team, fostering a data-driven culture of innovation and collaboration.

The ideal candidate is someone who has a passion for business agility and problem solving, a proven track record in leading the successful execution of large portfolios of initiatives with a Lean Portfolio mindset, and the ability to forge meaningful relationships and to build trust across the organization. Some of the essentials skills required of you in this role are, at least ten years of experience leading and/or managing product teams in an Agile methodology, SAFe Release Train Engineer Certification or Lean Portfolio Management (LPM) certification and at least one certification in the Project Portfolio Management space. Familiarity with all aspects of project management and understands the importance of executing in conformance with the approved Project Management Life Cycle and System Development Life Cycle.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • A bachelor's degree or appropriate combination of education and experience
  • SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE) Certification or Lean Portfolio Management (LPM) Certification
  • At least one certification in the Project/Portfolio Management space (PMP,PfMP, etc)

Required Qualifications:

  • 10 plus years of experience leading and/or managing product teams in an Agile methodology
  • Familiarity with the implementation and use of the various system development methodologies including in-depth knowledge of the SAFe framework for business agility.
  • Demonstrated ability to define and prioritize feature sets, balancing customer needs, technical feasibility and business priorities.
  • Familiarity with all aspects of project management and understands the important of executing in-conformance with the approved Project Management Life Cycle (PMLC) and System Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Experience managing teams through a diverse group of concurrent projects
  • Demonstrates a sound sense of business and technological acumen
  • Must be proficient in verbal, written and interpersonal skills, displaying good management skills
  • Must display a focus on business/IT relationships.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or other post graduate education is a plus
  • Experience in insurance industry is a plus

Compensation for the successful candidate will consider the candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, experience and geographic location.
