Job Title: Domestic Violence Crisis Hotline Specialist

Shift: Varies (24/7 rotation)

Job Overview:

We are now accepting applications for a Domestic Violence Crisis Hotline Specialist to join our team in St. Charles, MO. In this vital role, you will answer 24-hour hotlines, offering crisis support, advocacy, and guidance to survivors of domestic violence. The successful candidate should demonstrate a deep understanding of domestic violence dynamics and its effects on victims and their loved ones. To excel in this role, you must display exceptional listening skills, empathy, and patience when assisting vulnerable populations.

  • Crisis Calls: Answer 24-hour hotline and provide crisis support and advocacy as needed. Record calls in Electronic Health Record system.

  • Assessments: Conduct telephone intakes for callers seeking domestic violence shelter or outreach services.

  • Intakes & Discharging: Prepare facilities for new residents, complete intake process including paperwork, tours of the facility, etc., and complete exit paperwork.

  • Case Management: Document all pertinent information including client interactions and any notable progress toward achieving goals.

  • Resource Referrals: Coordinate resources for client needs, including transportation and childcare. Complete consent forms with clients to protect privacy.

  • Groups: Facilitate or co-facilitate psycho-educational groups and classes as needed.

Education and/or Experience Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, psychiatric nursing, or a closely related field OR High School education AND two (2) years responsible employment history.

  • Basic knowledge of domestic violence and sexual assault.

  • Basic knowledge of trauma.

  • Demonstrates good judgment and discernment in dealing with people.

  • Capable of communicating ideas clearly and effectively.

  • Demonstrates the ability to operate a computer and utilize Google applications.

  • Completion of internal DV training.

  • Demonstrated ability to operate a computer and use Microsoft Office applications.

Additional Qualifications:
  • Possess a valid Driver's License within the state of residence and have a responsible driving record.

  • Obtain Adult + Infant CPR and First Aid certification within ninety (90) days of employment.

  • Pass a background check, including criminal record, driving record, and abuse/neglect checks.

  • Attend New Hire Orientation at the commencement of employment.

  • Complete all training requirements, such as Relias Learning and MOCADSV Advocate Academy at the start of employment and annually thereafter.
