Wieland is hiring a Director of Labor Relations. The Director of Talent Management & Learning Development is responsible for the overall strategy and management of the labor relations programs across multiple sites and business units in North America. As the subject matter expert, this leader will provide recommendations and solutions to HR colleagues and business leadership at all levels of the organization, including executives. This person can be based at our North American headquarters located in Louisville, KY, or at one of our sites in the greater Chicagoland area. Fully remote candidates will additionally be considered.

Responsibilities

Director of Labor Relations Responsibilities:

    Advises the human resources team and business leaders on labor matters and helps to develop the appropriate course of prevention and action.
  • Manages administration of labor contracts; provides interpretation of labor contracts to managers, employees, and HR staff; oversees processes for review and resolution of employee grievances.
  • In partnership with business unit leadership, serves as the Company's chief negotiator in contract negotiations with recognized employee organizations. Conducts research necessary to support contract negotiations and employee relations. Uses appropriate negotiation strategies to develop bargaining goals and negotiate contracts consistent with the Company's goals.
  • Maintains current knowledge of employee and labor relations trends, legal decisions, and statutory changes.
  • Represent the company on labor relations issues, including overseeing the processing of grievances and arbitration matters.
  • Oversees the negotiations of collective bargaining agreements across all WNA unionized facilities.
  • Consults and advises senior leadership on labor relations issues of strategic importance.
  • Takes a practical, creative, and proactive problem-solving approach to efficiently close deals while advising business leaders on acceptable risk.
  • Partners with HR colleagues to ensure compliance with local, state and federal labor and employment laws across North America.
  • Facilitates ongoing communication and working relationships with employee representative organizations, including coordination of joint labor-management committees

Director of Labor Relations Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, labor relations, or related field; Advanced degree or other specialized training in labor/employee relations a significant plus
  • 8+ years of direct experience in labor relations preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • 2+ years' experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • 3+ years' experience leading a team.
  • Ability to travel up to 40% domestically.
