Summary of Position

The Director of Accounting is primarily responsible for Curium's accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, treasury, and tax processes. They will lead a team to ensure all controls and management metrics are met as well as IFRS, US GAAP and IRS policies are in-line with the established guidance.

Essential Functions
  • Lead, mentor, and manage the accounting team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment
  • Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial transactions, reporting, and compliance with IFRS and US GAAP accounting standards
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement efficient financial processes and controls
  • Guide the preparation and issuance of internal and external reports on a timely basis, including balance sheets, income statements and cash flow statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
  • Drive the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Maintain a strong understanding of industry trends, regulations, and best practices to ensure the company's financial practices remain current and compliant
  • Create, execute, and oversee an internal controls framework including a testing environment to ensure controls are functioning as intended
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions
  • Communicate timely and effectively with management on financial and operational issues as they arise
  • Identify, pursue, and implement process and technology changes that improve the speed, cost, or efficiency of the department
  • Pursue continuous improvements that enhance how management and employees experience the accounting team and function
  • Manage all US corporate tax decisions
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the CFO
Requirements
  • Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance. A Master Degree is a plus
  • CPA highly desired
  • Strong understanding of GAAP with IFRS knowledge a plus
  • Decent understanding of IRS corporate tax code
  • Minimum fifteen years of relevant experience in an accounting role
  • Five or more years in a leadership role required
  • Demonstrated capacity to handle diverse number of projects simultaneously
  • Strong ability to collaborate with a multi-cultural and cross-functional team
  • Independent, inquisitive and a self-starter
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills
  • Strong MS Office skills (i.e. Outlook, Teams, and Excel)
  • Unquestionable integrity and the highest professional standards

Working Conditions

  • This position will work in typical office conditions with extensive time using personal computer equipment.
  • May be required to sit or stand for long periods of time while performing duties.
  • Close attention to detail required.
  • Willingness to work in a team-based environment.
  • In office 4 days per week, 1 optional day hybrid.
  • The position deals with many deadlines. Due to the short turnaround time of deadlines and limited time, overtime is sometimes required.
