Recent Ph.D. graduates in geospatial science, geography, electronic engineering, computer science, or related disciplines are highly encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will conduct research in the Remote Sensing Lab at Saint Louis University under the supervision of Dr. Sagan. Specifically, we are looking to fill these positions in the following expertise: remote sensing-based seed composition estimation at multiple scales (1 research scientist), InSAR (Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar) change detection/calibration (1 research scientist), remote sensing-based measurement of greenhouse gas emissions and geo-carbon accounting (1 research scientist), and GeoAI (1 research scientist). Research Scientists will be funded by the following external projects with initial appointments for a year that can be renewed for multiple years depending on satisfactory progress and funding availability.

  • Seed-AI: Seed composition estimation from standing crops at global scale using satellite data, AI, and crop modeling.

  • Scaling up the industrial hemp supply chain as carbon negative feedstock for fuel and fiber.

  • Developing global InSAR solutions for change detection with enhanced regional calibration.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify compelling scientific questions, design experiments, and conduct ground-breaking research.

  • Participate in developing grant proposals for external funding support.
