All About You

Under general direction, leads special projects, team training, and work load distribution; troubleshoots and assists staff with difficult issues; serves as lead contact for questions from staff. Serves as a resource person for staff; provides job specific/system training for new employees; researches and responds to customer service problems; troubleshoots and assists staff with difficult issues; coordinates workload distribution; leads special projects; performs other duties as assigned.

Under immediate supervision, familiarizes newly hired custodians to the assigned work place and observes quality and quantity of the work performed; trains proper cleaning techniques and equipment usage; performs assigned general cleaning; orders and distributes supplies/materials; and assists with set-up for University functions.

Knowledge Skills Abilities:

Knowledge of floor care equipment, i.e., buffers, vacuums, floor scrubbers
Knowledge of carpet equipment and extraction
Supervisory skills
Decision-making skills
Ability to work effectively with others
Ability to organize work to ensure all tasks are completed in a timely manner
Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 60 pounds
Ability to maintain confidentiality

Job Duties and Responsibilties:


Performs custodial duties and orients newly hired custodial workers to the assigned work place; observes work performance, both quality and quantity; identifies training needs and advises custodial supervisor.


Trains custodial workers on such tasks as: general cleaning, stripping and waxing floors, spray buffing, and extracting carpet soil.

Requisitions and distributes supplies and materials


Prepares University areas for special event set-ups.

Serves as back-up to Custodial Supervisor.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent. One (1) year of custodial work-related experience required. Supervisory experience preferred.
