Job Summary

Under general direction of the Dean and Associate Dean for Research, the research coordinator will provide administrative support in the management of the day-to-day operations of research activities in the Edward and Margaret Doisy College of Health Sciences. The research coordinator will support the development and implementation of new programs in the college to support faculty research and scholarship. The research coordinator will be responsible for the overall management, planning, and coordination of activities designed to promote research within the college, including but not limited to monthly research colloquia and other college-wide sponsored events.

The research coordinator will maintain a comprehensive understanding of all research programs in the college through regular meetings with principal investigators (PI) to align faculty expertise with grant opportunities and contribute to the development of multi-PI collaborations across the college and across other units on campus. The research coordinator will meet regularly with the dean and associate dean for research to support the dean's vision for research growth in the college; facilitate partnerships with federal, industry, and foundation sponsors; and increase the submission of investigator-initiated extramural research grants and college-led institutional training grants.

The research coordinator will work closely with principal investigators in the college to facilitate research activities and ensure compliance with institutional and federal regulatory requirements. The research coordinator will work closely with pre- and post-award staff in the Saint Louis University Research Institute and Grant Operations Center to ensure the timely submission of supporting materials for new grant proposals and work directly with college faculty from conceptual stages of their proposed work through coordination and implementation of college-specific research initiatives.

Job Duties

  • Provides support to the Dean and Associate Dean for Research in day-to-day operations of research in the college and implementation of the dean's college-wide research initiatives

  • Provides administrative support to the Doisy College of Health Sciences Research and Scholarship Committee and the PhD Advisory Committee to support research in the college

  • Provides support to principal investigators and facilitates communication with appropriate staff in the Research Institute, Grant Operations Center, and institutional committees during all stages of IRB and IACUC protocol submission & intramural/extramural grant submissions

  • Provides support to principal investigators and facilitates communication with appropriate staff in the Research Institute and Grant Operations Center to support college investigators with the implementation of processes to improve tracking of research expenditures and the planning and execution of awards throughout all stages of the award cycle

  • Provides support to the Dean and Associate Dean for Research in the communication and dissemination of research opportunities to faculty, coordination of research meetings with faculty, and the planning and implementation of college-wide events to promote research

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; supplemented with two - three (2-3) years of related experience. Master's degree preferred.
