Job Description:


Primarily in training to perform machining operations on a wide variety of manual and CNC machine tools in an efficient manner, with high quality results in order to support customer order requirements to include the following:.

Perform assembly operations as required.

Perform fabrication operations as required.

Make special tooling and fixtures, and assist with problem solving as required.

Utilize the order board for scheduling and evaluating capacity

Follow all shop procedures that pertain to the equipment within the Manufacturing Cell.

Perform in-process inspection and inspect completed work to ensure the highest level of quality.

Coordinate efforts and communicate job status with other team members.

Participate in cross-training activities with other Manufacturing Team members.

Work with the Manufacturing Team and Administration Cell to improve processes and update job standards for future use.

Work in a safe manner following safety procedures, and immediately report any safety violations.

Participate in daily touch meetings.


Read and interpret blueprints related to machining operations.

Understand machining properties and principles of various types of raw material and castings.

Demonstrate a basic knowledge of fabricating and welding.

Demonstrate a basic knowledge of assembly practices.

Perform mathematical calculations using basic math, algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.

Demonstrate ability to retrieve and send CNC programs using the DNC network.

Demonstrate knowledge of CNC program certification procedures.

Demonstrate knowledge of CNC programming and editing in MDI, G-Code, and Conversational programming applications.

Demonstrate understanding of pre-set/preferred tooling packages and Production Resource Tools.

Layout parts for preliminary machining using tools such as scribes, squares, protractors, etc.

Chose correct fixtures, vices, etc., required for holding material in machining operations.

Chose the correct tooling and calculate cutting speeds and feeds based on materials used, equipment capacity and capabilities, and nature of the operation, to manufacture parts to the requirements of the blueprint. Tooling includes but is not limited to: face and end mills, boring bars, turning tools, threading tools, knurling tools, reamers, drills, taps, insert, broaches, arbor cutters, etc.

Set-up and operate a variety of manual and CNC machines that include: lathes, vertical and horizontal mills, boring bars, grinders, saws, drill presses, etc.

Identify where deburring is required and deburr parts using a variety of hand tools such as: files, sanders, die grinders, etc.

Inspect completed work to ensure the highest level of quality using a variety of inspection equipment such as: micrometers, calipers, bore gages, height gages, thread gages, gage pins, indicators, etc.

Document specific job procedures and set-ups using pictures, diagrams, set-up sheets, etc.

Perform all work following safety procedures and maintain a clean and safe work area.


Perform other duties as assigned by the Manufacturing Team Leader.
